The not-so-great: This field intentionally left blank 🙂

I couldn’t be happier that I booked Cheryl’s Bahamas Taxis and Tours for my family’s roundtrip airport transfer and private tour of the Bahamas. This family-owned business is friendly and entertaining, and they’ll go out of their way to make sure that the customer is taken care of.

Booking:

Choosing Cheryl’s was pretty much a no-brainer, once I saw all of the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. I emailed in my request for pricing and received a response in less than 24 hours with pricing for the transfer, along with information about available tours. To confirm the transfer, I had the option to either email my credit card information or call their office to provide it over the phone. I chose the latter, and paid in full for the roundtrip transfer. When I was ready to book the tour, I paid a deposit for the first hour and confirmed a date and itinerary over the phone.

Airport transfers:

When we arrived, we were expecting a sign with our name on it to lead us to our private airport transfer to the Breezes Bahamas Resort and Spa. When we didn’t find anyone holding a sign, we asked a staff member where to find our representative, and we were pointed in the direction of a friendly gentleman. I spoke with him and explained the situation, and due to a scheduling mix up on their side, no one was there to pick us up. This could’ve been the start of a bad experience with Cheryl’s, but instead, he used the mixup as an opportunity to showcase their excellent customer service. The driver, Craig, immediately placed a call, then grabbed our bags and took us to his van. He apologized multiple times for the mixup, which in reality, didn’t cause us any delay in getting to the resort. He verified our return trip to the airport, as well as our private tour during the drive.

As we enjoyed the scenery, he pointed out sites that we passed along the way. The driver was very funny, and made us feel at ease immediately. Upon arriving at the resort, he assured us that the rest of our experience with Cheryl’s would be timely and enjoyable. By the time we arrived at the resort, we had already forgotten about the minor mixup. Our return trip was seamless, and we were sad to bid them goodbye.

The tour:

For my family of five, I selected a 3-hour private tour of historical and tourist sites. For what we were able to experience, the $55/hour rate was a steal. Our tour guide, Craig, was very informative, taking us to sites that would allow us to get the most value out of our time. He was extremely efficient in getting us from site to site, and never kept us waiting.

Sites we were able to see during the three hours:

  • Fort Charlotte, the largest of the 4 forts on the island
  • Atlantis, the largest resort on the island
  • The Cloisters, a beautiful garden
  • Fort Montagu, a smaller fort on the beach
  • The Queen’s Staircase, also known as the 66 Steps
  • John Watling’s Distillery, a rum distillery that doesn’t export their product at all

If it sounds like a lot, that’s because it is! With all this, we still had time to take pictures and take in the sites. We had a full walkthrough tour of Fort Charlotte and the distillery, plus an informative mini-tour before walking down the Queen’s Staircase. Plus, the fact that we didn’t have to wait on a group of people we didn’t know during the tour made it all the better.

Throughout the day, Craig also served homemade Bahama Mama’s, which were absolutely delicious!

Overall rating: 5/5 stars

I would strongly recommend anyone traveling to Nassau, Bahamas use Cheryl’s Bahamas Taxi and Tours for all transportation and tour needs. They know the island, they provide excellent customer service, and it’s obvious that they take pride in making sure your experience is amazing.
